Angels Want Huston Street To Stay in Anaheim

by Will Thompson | Wed, Feb 4th 11:22pm EST

The Angels intend to negotiate an extension with closer Huston Street, whom they acquired from San Diego in July last season. The Angels activated his 2015 club option for $7 million, after Street had a career-high 41 saves. (Los Angeles Angels website)

Fantasy Impact:

Street will turn 32 this season with just over 600 innings on his right arm, as he has never been a starter during his ten years in the majors (or minors). He's missed time due to injury for five straight seasons, but has a 91% save conversion rate during that time. His K rate, FIP and HR/9 rate have remained solid as well. Other closers relying on more than just fastballs, such as Trevor Hoffman and John Smoltz, pitched into their 40's. The Angels should keep Street around for another few years, and fantasy owners can rely on him for saves in 2015.
