Jameson Taillon acknowledged Thursday that his 2019 season is likely over, after experiencing a setback in recovering from a strained right elbow. (Jason Mackey on Twitter)

Taillon is scheduled to visit an orthopedic surgeon on Monday, who will determine whether Taillon's injury is serious enough to warrant Tommy John surgery, which would be the second of his career. Even if Taillon opts to pursue a non-surgical treatment plan for his injury, he will likely face a shutdown period that would prevent him from taking the mound again in 2019. Taillon's future prospects should be more clear early next week, after his appointment.
