Fantasy Impact:

This is brutal news for Snell, the Rays, and for fantasy owners. The four-week timeline for Snell to return is probably on the optimistic side, and it could affect fantasy owners in different ways depending on their formats. For owners in head-to-head leagues, they are going to lose him for much of the rest of their regular season and could lose him for some or all of the playoffs, depending on how his recovery progresses. For owners in standard roto leagues, they lose a top starter for at least a month as they attempt to make a push in the final 10 or so weeks of the season. Look for an update on his status after he has the surgery this weekend, but expect to be without him until at least the end of August.
