Luke Voit headed for MRI after leaving game with core muscle injury

by Mike Maher | Tue, Jul 30th 10:09pm EDT

Yankees first baseman Luke Voit left Tuesday night's game against the Arizona Diamondbacks with a core muscle injury and will undergo an MRI, according to multiple reports. James Wagner of the New York Times reports that Voit appeared to wince during his strikeout in the 3rd inning. He left the game shortly after. (James Wagner on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact:

Voit was hit by a pitch earlier in the game but was not removed for a few more innings. More information should be available tomorrow, but core injuries can linger and can often result in a player missing several weeks. Even if the injury is minor, it would not be surprising to see the Yankees put Voit on the injured list given their large lead in the AL East.
