CC Sabathia is due for a rebound according to Brian Cashman

CC Sabathia was the definition of a workhorse over the first 13 years of his career, averaging 213 innings pitched per season, but had arm and knee issues that have ruined the past two seasons. Yankees' GM Brian Cashman thinks that those injuries are in the past and the 34 year old can be successful. (New York Post)

Fantasy Impact:

If Cashman's assertion is correct, that would be massive for fantasy purposes, as he had a 3.22 ERA, 226 innings pitched per season, and a 1.18 WHIP over the first three seasons of his Yankees career. This may not be feasible, but Sabathia, if healthy, should be able to log 200 or more innings and provide stability to the middle of the Yankees rotation and a fantasy rotation as well. A huge positive for those considering Sabathia's merits: even though his velocity is down over the past four seasons, he had his highest K/9 of his career in 2014 and second best K:BB as well. Sabathia may not be a power pitcher anymore, but may be reliable as a crafty veteran. If his knee and arm are healthy, huge question marks at this point, he should be relied upon for fantasy purposes.
