Luis Castillo strikes out eight in no-decision Sunday

by Connor Rooney | Mariners Correspondent | Sun, Aug 11th 8:05pm EDT

Luis Castillo did not factor into the decision in Sunday's loss to the Cubs, allowing three runs on seven hits and one walk across 6.2 innings. He struck out eight.

Fantasy Impact:

Castillo was in cruise control until the seventh inning, when he allowed two Cubs batters to reach base, prompting manager David Bell to call to the bullpen. Michael Lorenzen subsequently allowed a base hit, then a three-run home run to put the Cubs ahead by two. Castillo's season ERA sits at a stellar 2.69, and he has an elite 172 strikeouts in 143.2 innings. He's also cut his walk rate down significantly since his season-high six walk outing on June 17. He'll take on the Cardinals next at home on Friday.
