Fantasy Impact:

It was reported earlier this week that Reds ace Johnny Cueto will no longer pitch to a personal catcher. No reason was provided for the removal of Cuetos battery mate, but a look at the offensive production from the players who recently filled that role make it easy to speculate. Johnny was sensational in 2014 as he won 20 games and finished top 5 in both ERA and Strikeouts among all MLB pitchers. Reds catcher Devin Mesoraco, who recently inked a 4 year deal with the club, said he wants to catch 161 games this season. If he can provide Cueto the same stability behind the plate as prior offensively challenged catchers, the run support his bat creates will be applauded by a pitcher who ranked only 75th in run support last season. Johnny Cueto is in position to surpass the 20 win mark again in 2015.
