Peter Bourjos has fully recovered from hip surgery

by Drew Bradley | Mon, Mar 2nd 3:17pm EST

St. Louis Cardinals CF, Peter Bourjos, has completely recovered from surgery on his hip in October that has been causing him discomfort since 2010. Last season, the pain became overwhelming and Bourjos decided to get the surgery at the end of the season. Now, fully healthy, and in his 2nd season in St. Louis, Bourjos hopes to rebound from a miserable offensive year. (mlb.com)

Fantasy Impact:

In 214 ABs last year, Bourjos slashed .234/.294/.348, which, it goes without saying, is just not very good. He was 9 for 12 on SB attempts and showcased outstanding defense, so it is possible, that he is able to emerge as the starting CF in St. Louis, if Jay were to struggle. However, unless he is able to dramatically improve with the bat this season, he could find himself without a role at the major league level (see Pete Kozma).
