Brandon McCarthy solid in debut

by Stan Son | Sun, Mar 8th 7:55pm EDT

Brandon McCarthy made his Spring Training and Dodgers debut Sunday afternoon against the Milwaukee Brewers. He gave up two hits, allowed one earned run, and struck out two in two innings pitched. 20 of his 26 pithes were thrown for strikes.

Fantasy Impact:

McCarthy is a HUGE sleeper going into 2015 as he is currently ranked as the #70 starting pitcher. I believe he is ranked so low because of his years in Arizona. It has come out that the Arizona staff did not want him throwing his cutter. When the Yankees acquired him in 2014, that was one of the first things that they changed and the numbers speak for themselves. He posted a 2.89 ERA in 90.1 innings pitched, with a 1.151 WHIP and 82 strikeouts in New York and a 5.01 ERA in 109.2 innings pitched, with a 1.377 WHIP and 93 strikeouts.
