Ryan Howard's woes at the plate continue

by Kerry Kauffman | Thu, Mar 12th 4:35pm EDT

The Phillies exploded 6 runs in the fifth inning on Thursday to pull out a 6-5 win over the Tigers in Grapefruit League play. Ryan Howard was not part of the offensive attack, going 0-for-3 with a strikeout. His batting average now stands at .182 this spring.

Fantasy Impact:

Howard continues to scuffle at the plate after starting the spring 2-for-2. He has yet to have an extra base hit. While the Phillies have made it known they prefer to move forward without Howard, there will be no takers if Howard continues to hit without average or power. At this point, it's hard to envision Howard being a major power threat this season.
