Brett Gardner saw his batting average dip to .100, as he was 0-3 with two strikeouts against the Blue Jays.
Fantasy Impact:
Chase Headley was 2-3 with a double as the second hitter in the other matchup of a split squad performance and could be better suited as the second place hitter for the Yankees. Headley has a better OBP than Gardner does and this spring has seen Gardner struggle. Initial projections had Gardner as the leadoff hitter for the Yankees, with Headley and Jacoby Ellsbury following him, and the team would be wise to test that order in Spring Training. Gardner needs to regain his potentially 20 home run, 20 steal form and he is stuck as the second batter in the lineup.
