Fantasy Impact:

Hamels signed a one-year deal with the Braves this off-season. He developed shoulder irritation in January and was expected to miss the original start of the season. Hamels has been “feeling great” and will throw a bullpen session Friday," said Anthopulos. “We’ll have him come in, and we’ll see how things progress with all of our guys and how much we can get them stretched out." “We’ll see how long that takes with all our rotation candidates. But right now, in terms of our projections, he’s someone we plan to carry with us to start the year. Things can change over the course of a month, but right now we plan on being able to carry all these guys.” Hamels is expected to be all systems go once the MLB season starts at the end of July. He owned a 3.81 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 143:56 K:BB across 27 starts for the Cubs in 2019. Hamels is currently 107th among all pitchers in the latest expert consensus rankings.
