Fantasy Impact:

Mateo was scheduled to report to spring training as part of the A's 60-man roster pool, but was traded to the Padres for player to be named later. The Padres have Fernando Tatis Jr. locked in as the starting shortstop. Mateo's best path to playing time would be second base, where he would compete with Jurickson Profar and Brian Dozier. Mateo slashed .289/.330/.504 with 19 homers, 78 RBI, 95 runs and 24 stolen bases across 566 plate appearances in Triple-A Las Vegas last season.
