Martinez is awaiting the results of his COVID-19 test and has absent from early workouts. When asked if missing camp complicates their readiness for the regular season, Cardinals’ manager replied “compromised.” Martinez was battling Kwan-Hyun Kim for the fifth spot in the Cardinals rotation. It is unclear at thIs time when Martinez will be able to return to action. The 28-year-old will play key role out of the Cardinals’ rotation, whether as a starter or out of the bullpen.
