Fantasy Impact:

It’s obviously the first career Opening Day nod for the young hurler. Paddack impressed in his rookie season last year, compiling a 3.33 ERA to go along with a 0.98 WHIP and a 153/31 K/BB ratio. It’s unclear if the Padres are going to fully unleash their ace when it comes to pitch counts and innings limits, but he is rightfully being drafted as a top-20 starter in fantasy either way. He’ll be followed in the San Diego rotation by Dinelson Lamet and Garrett Richards.
