Brett Gardner cannot be a part of the Yankees offensive onslaught

by Chris Zolli | Thu, Mar 19th 8:30am EDT

Brett Gardner was 1-3 with a walk against the Braves, raising his Spring Training batting average to .138, but was without a run or RBI in the leadoff spot of a 12-5 victory.

Fantasy Impact:

Gardner has been mainly punchless this spring; he is without an extra base hit in 34 plate appearances and only has two RBI and no runs scored. Gardner has had 50 extra base hits in each of the past two seasons and hit a career high 17 home runs in 2014. Gardner could be a 20 home run/20 steal candidate in 2015, but he needs to find a place in the lineup to thrive. He has struggled at the top of the lineup this spring and needs to find a spot in the lineup to live up to his potential.
