Matt Cain struck out six in 3 1/3 innings today in a Triple-A exhibition. He touched 92 while giving up two hits, one run and one HBP. He threw 51 pitches. (CSN Bay Area)
Fantasy Impact:
Matt Cain has looked good in his Spring outings so far, and will likely make one more start before Opening Day. Cain had a rough 2013 and 2014, much of which has been attributed to bone chips in his throwing elbow. While a return to his 2012 numbers (2.79 ERA, 219.1 innings, 193 Ks) may not be in the cards for Cain post-bone chips, certainly look for him to return closer to his pre-2013 ERA of 3.19 and 7.3 K/9.
