Daniel Murphy's hamstring pull may result in early season DL stint

by Nick Ritrivi | Fri, Mar 20th 7:16pm EDT

The Mets initially labeled Murphy's injury as hamstring "tightness." An MRI taken Friday revealed a more extensive hamstring injury. Mets GM Sandy Alderson said that Murphy may begin the season on the DL with a pulled right hamstring. (ESPN)

Fantasy Impact:

Murphy projects as a third tier 2B in mixed leagues. He is currently ranked as the 138th overall pick in mixed leagues by FantasyPros experts (12th ranked 2B; 18th ranked 3B). His injury could impact his availability in the early part of the season. As such, owners who intend to start Murphy at 2B should make plans to potentially address an early season DL stint.
