Zac Gallen excellent in no-decision

by Jon Mathisen | Diamondbacks Correspondent | Sat, Aug 1st 1:21am EDT

Zac Gallen gave up two runs on five hits while striking out nine and walking one over six strong innings, taking a no-decision in the D-Backs 5-3 win over the Dodgers on Friday.

Fantasy Impact:

This was a nice bounce back for Gallen, who looked much sharper on Friday than he did in his first start of the season when he surrendered five free passes. He had his curveball and changeup working beautifully tonight, matching a career-high nine strikeouts against the Dodgers high-powered offense. Mookie Betts was the only thorn in his side, cracking a solo shot and an RBI single, but Gallen was able to minimize the damage and log his first quality start of the year. It won't get much easier for the 24-year old, who's set to face the Astros in his next start.
