Padres prospect Jorge Mateo has been added to the team's tax squad and has joined the team in Los Angeles, according to a report from Padres beat writer Kevin Acee. Acee adds that he is working out in the outfield. (Kevin Acee on Twitter)
Mateo was acquired from the Athletics in the offseason and batted .289 with 19 home runs and 24 stolen bases in 119 games in Triple-A last season. He has plus speed and has 49 stolen bases over his last two minor league seasons combined.
