Thomas Eshelman gets win in relief

by Carmen Maiorano | Padres Correspondent | Mon, Aug 24th 8:15am EDT

Thomas Eshelman came in to replace the injured Wade LeBlanc in the first inning of Sunday's game against the Red Sox. He pitched 4 and 1/3 innings of shutout baseball, allowing just one runner via a walk. He struck out two in the 5-4 victory.

Fantasy Impact:

Eshelman should join the starting rotation for however long LeBlanc is hurt. Eshelman has a 2.75 ERA and 0.76 WHIP through 19 and 2/3 innings, but he only has eight strikeouts. Assuming he has a place in the rotation, he will take on the Blue Jays on the road in his next start.
