Yusei Kikuchi picks up first win of the season

by Jon Mathisen | Blue Jays Correspondent | Thu, Aug 27th 9:19pm EDT

Yusei Kikuchi picked up a win in the second half of the Mariners' double-header against the Padres on Thursday. He gave up three runs on seven hits with six strikeouts and no walks as the M's beat the Pads 8-3.

Fantasy Impact:

Kikuchi got run support from the beginning as the M's hung six runs on the Padres in the opening frame. He gave up a solo shot to Manny Machado in the first and a pair of RBI singles later in the game to Jurickson Profar and Trent Grisham, respectively. On the positive side, he didn't issue a free pass for the first time in a start this year. The lefty now owns a 6.12 ERA, 1.40 WHIP, and a 27:10 K/BB ratio over 25 innings (six starts). He'll look to improve in his next start against the A's in Seattle.
