Johnny Cueto notches a quality start on Sunday

by Jon Mathisen | Mon, Aug 31st 11:20am EDT

Johnny Cueto took a no-decision on Sunday when he surrendered one run on three hits with six strikeouts and three walks over 6.2 innings in the Giants 4-1 win over the D-backs.

Fantasy Impact:

Cueto was excellent on Sunday, scattering a pair of hits and three walks through the first six innings as the Giants held a one-run lead. His only mistake was a solo shot in the bottom of the sixth inning to Eduardo Escobar, which tied the ball game. He was taken out with two outs in the same frame and replaced by Tony Watson, who ended up stealing the win as the pitcher of record when San Francisco retook the lead in the top of the eighth inning. The veteran right-hander now owns 4.75 ERA, 1.20 WHIP, and a 39:16 K/BB ratio over 41.2 innings (eight starts). He'll duel these same Diamondbacks in his next rotation turn.
