Detroit Tigers left-hander Matthew Boyd allowed two runs over six innings in a 2-0 loss to the Twins in the first game of a Friday doubleheader. Boyd struck out eight in the loss.

Boyd gave up two solo homers in the first inning and cruised from there. Unfortunately, his offense was shut out.
