Johnny Cueto puts up decent performance in no decision on Sunday

by Jon Mathisen | Mon, Sep 7th 11:37am EDT

Johnny Cueto took a no decision on Sunday when he surrendered two runs on seven hits with seven strikeouts and three walks across 5.2 innings in the Giants 4-2 win over the D-backs.

Fantasy Impact:

It was a rough first inning for Cueto as Tim Locastro led things off with a solo shot to get Arizona on the board. He then gave up back-to-back singles and one of those runners would come around to score on a sacrifice fly. Cueto would retire eight of the next nine batters he faced before running into trouble in the top of the sixth inning when he gave up a double and back-to-back walks with two outs. This wasn't the right-hander's most efficient performance as it took 109 pitches to get through 5.2 innings; only 66 of those pitches went for strikes. He now owns a 2-0 record, 4.56 ERA, 1.27 WHIP, and a 46:19 K/BB ratio across 41.1 innings (nine starts) this season. He'll square off against the Padres in San Diego on his next turn.
