Shane Victorino confident he can play every day in the field

by John Aubin | Sat, Mar 28th 8:01am EDT

Six months removed from major back surgery, hindered at the start of the exhibition schedule and forced to abandon switch-hitting a week ago, it's been a challenging spring for Shane Victorino. But with the April 6 opener in sight, Victorino leaves no doubt about his readiness for the season. Asked how much he expected to be able to play early in the season, Victorino answered without doubt or hestitation. "Every day,'' said Victorino, who seemed surprised by the question. "Just because I haven't done it here doesn't mean I'm not ready. [Thursday] was my best day, physically. I feel like everything's going in the right direction, physically -- my legs, running. I feel like I can go everyday, but obviously I have to show it here or show the consistency of it." (CSNNE)

Fantasy Impact:

In the last couple of seasons Shane Victorino has earned the tag "injury prone". Routinely drafted in the top ten rounds of fantasy drafts, Victorino has now slid to an average ADP of 324. The Red Sox currently have Victorino pegged for the starting right field job. Keep an eye on him. He could get hot and be a good add early in the season. But also be prepared for a possible injury and trip to the disabled list.
