Nick Margevicius tagged for seven runs in blowout loss Wednesday

by Jon Mathisen | Thu, Sep 10th 11:25am EDT

Nick Margevicius took his third loss of the season on Wednesday when he was lit up for seven runs on six hits with six strikeouts and three walks over 4 2/3 innings in the Mariners 10-1 loss to the Giants.

Fantasy Impact:

Margevicius avoided trouble through the first two innings but things started to fall apart in the bottom of the third. He gave up a three-run blast to Mike Yastrzemski and an RBI single to Evan Longoria to hand the Giants 4-0 lead. He gave up another run in the fourth inning and was then lifted with the bases loaded in the fifth, replaced by Walker Lockett who allowed two of the inherited runners to score. The poor outing elevated Margevicius' season ERA to 5.34 with a 1.25 WHIP and a 29:8 K/BB ratio across 30 1/3 innings. He's not a recommended play in his next start against the A's at home.
