Trevor Cahill takes the loss on Thursday, gives up four runs

by Jon Mathisen | Fri, Sep 11th 11:55am EDT

Trevor Cahill took the loss on Thursday when he yielded four runs on five hits while striking out three over three innings in the Giants 6-1 loss to the Padres.

Fantasy Impact:

San Diego was all over Cahill in the first inning when he gave up four hits, two singles and two doubles, and three runs. Manny Machado bopped a solo shot off him in the bottom of the third inning to give him four earned runs on the evening. Cahill now owns a 4.05 ERA, 1.25 WHIP, and a 23:11 K/BB ratio across just 20 innings (six starts). Pitch counts due to injury concerns have precluded the right-hander from pitching more than four innings just once all year. He gets the Mariners in his next rotation turn but doesn't have any fantasy appeal due to his innings limitations, which caps his potential quality start upside.
