Kwang Hyun Kim brilliant in Game One no decision Monday

by Lucas Babits-Feinerman | Tue, Sep 15th 9:55am EDT

Kwang Hyun Kim pitched seven innings allowing zero runs and six base runners on three hits and three walks as the Cardinals fell to the Brewers 2-1 in Game One on Monday. Kim allowed three doubles on the afternoon and one of his walks was intentional. He threw 87 pitches, 54 of them for strikes, and was unlucky because the Cardinals provided zero run support for him. The Cardinals moved to 20-21 with the loss.

Fantasy Impact:

Kim has a 0.63 ERA in 28 2/3 innings pitched for the Cardinals this season. He has allowed four runs, two earned in his big league career but 4.72 xFIP indicates some negative regression is likely in his future. Kim's success is fueled by an unsustainable .193 BABIP and 3.9% HR/FB rate. Kim maintained a 3.27 ERA and 1.33 WHIP over 1673 2/3 innings pitched in the KBO before coming to America this season. Fantasy owners can use Kim's KBO numbers when evaluating his potential for next season. Kim's next start is scheduled to be Saturday at Pittsburgh against Chad Kuhl where he is a recommended streamer in 12-team standard redraft leagues.
