Mike Fiers limits the Rockies to one run, grabs sixth win of the year

by Jon Mathisen | Wed, Sep 16th 7:43pm EDT

Mike Fiers pitched a gem on Wednesday when he limited to the Rockies to one run on seven hits with four strikeouts and no walks across six innings in the A's 3-1 win.

Fantasy Impact:

The fact this game was at Coors Field makes his start all the more impressive. Fiers needed just 77 pitches--52 strikes-- to get through six innings. The only Colorado run came via a Raimel Tapia bloop single to center field in the third inning. The stellar effort lowered the 35-year old's season ERA to 4.67 to go along with a 1.39 WHIP and a 35:15 K/BB ratio across 54 innings (10 starts). He draws a difficult matchup against the Dodgers on the road in his next turn.
