Johan Oviedo gets the loss in Game Two Wednesday

by Lucas Babits-Feinerman | Pirates Correspondent | Wed, Sep 16th 10:45pm EDT

Johan Oviedo allowed six runs, five earned in five and one third innings pitched on Wednesday evening. He struck out five, allowing seven hits and two walks. Oviedo allowed two home runs accounting for five of the six runs he surrendered - one three run home run to Ryan Braun in the first and a two run home run to Jacob Nottingham in the sixth that chased him from the game. The Cardinals fell to 22-23 with the loss and are now tied with the Cincinnati Reds for Second Place in the NL Central despite playing six less games than the Reds.

Fantasy Impact:

Oviedo was pitching in his first game after being activated from the COVID-19 IL. He was placed on the IL as a precautionary move because he came into contact with someone who had COVID. Oviedo does not have another scheduled start listed by the Cardinals but he likely will get the nod in one of the team's upcoming doubleheaders, possibly next Friday against the Brewers. Owners in standard 12-team redraft leagues can leave Oviedo and his 5.47 ERA on the Waiver Wire.
