Albert Pujols homers twice, surpasses Willie Mays for 5th place all-time

Albert Pujols had himself a milestone night on Friday, hitting the 661st and 662nd home runs of his illustrious career and powering the Angels to a 6-2 victory over the Rangers. After tying Willie Mays earlier this week for 5th place on MLB’s all-time home run list, Pujols surged past Mays on Friday to take sole possession of that spot. Pujols finished the night 3-for-5 with two homers, two runs, and two RBI.

Fantasy Impact:

After tonight’s performance, only Barry Bonds (762), Hank Aaron (755), Babe Ruth (714), and Alex Rodriguez (696) have hit more home runs in baseball history than the Angels 40-year-old future Hall-of-Famer. While Pujols has certainly been in the twilight of his career for the past couple of seasons and has struggled overall, it’s wonderful to see him achieve such legendary accomplishments after such a long and prodigious career.
