Yusei Kikuchi struggles mightily vs. Padres, walks six

by Jon Mathisen | Blue Jays Correspondent | Sat, Sep 19th 11:37am EDT

Yusei Kikuchi took the loss on Friday when he allowed five runs on four hits while striking out three and walking six over four innings in the Mariners 6-1 loss to the Padres.

Fantasy Impact:

Kikuchi did not have his stuff tonight; it took the left-hander 89 pitches--46 strikes-- to labor through four innings of work. He actually kept the Padres off the score board until the third inning when Trent Grisham scored on a passed ball. He walked a career-high six batters and also gave up a two-run blast to Manny Machado. The 29-year old now owns a 5.93 ERA, 1.32 WHIP, and a 42:17 K/BB ratio across 41 innings pitched (eight starts). He will look to rebound in his next turn against the Astros and should not be started in any fantasy formats.
