After being held out of the lineup for the past week, Shohei Ohtani started at DH for the Angels, batting sixth, on Saturday night and hit his sixth home run of the season. Ohtani finished the night 2-for-3 with a home run, two runs, and one RBI in a win over the Rangers.
It’s been a very rough season for the Angels two-way star, who even after tonight's big game is hitting just .200 with an anemic .672 OPS. The team evidently decided to give him a physical and mental break over the past week. Perhaps Ohtani can finish the season on a strong note if he gets regular playing time over the final week of the season.
