Andrew Miller struck out one batter in a perfect ninth inning as the Cardinals topped the Pirates 2-1 on Sunday. Miller needed 10 pitches to record the save, which was his third of the year. The Cardinals are now 26-24 on the season and have sole possession of Second Place in the NL Central.
Miller has a 3.09 ERA over 11 2/3 innings pitched this season. He was thought to be in the mix for saves while Cardinals' Closer Giovanny Gallegos is out with a groin and this was his first save during Gallegos' injury. Unfortunately for Miller, Gallegos is due back in the next couple of days. Still, Miller is the favorite for saves until Gallegos returns and owners in 12-team redraft leagues can keep him around until the Cardinals activate Gallegos.
