Carlos Martinez suffered an embarrassing defeat on Wednesday, allowing eight earned runs on nine hits, and two walks while striking out three over five innings pitched. Martinez allowed two home runs to Sal Perez, which accounted for five of the eight runs scored against the right hander. The Cardinals fall to 27-26 with the loss and are tied with the Cincinnati Reds for Second Place in the NL Central.
