Austin Gomber was effective allowing one earned run on one hit and two walks while striking out three over four innings as the Cardinals topped the Brewers 5-2 on Sunday to clinch a post season birth. He threw 75 pitches, 47 of them for strikes.

Gomber made 14 appearances this season, 10 in relief and four as a starter. He is stretched out enough for the Cardinals to deploy him in either role this post season. He finishes the year 1-1 with one hold, and a 1.86 ERA, 4.75 xFIP, 8.38 K/9 and 1.80 K/BB over 29 innings pitched this season.
