Lucas Giolito pitches a gem in Game 1 victory

by Jon Mathisen | Red Sox Correspondent | Tue, Sep 29th 7:14pm EDT

Lucas Giolito grabbed the win in Game 1 of Chicago's Wild Card series on Tuesday when he allowed just one run on two hits while striking out eight and walking one as the White Sox took down the A's 4-1.

Fantasy Impact:

Giolito was superb in his first ever postseason start, working a perfect game until the seventh inning when Tommy La Stella reached with a single up the middle. He escaped the seventh without incurring anymore damage. The right-hander started the eighth inning with a walk and a single and was replaced by Evan Marshall, who allowed one of those runners to score. The White Sox are now just one win away from reaching the Divisional Round of the playoffs for the first time since 2008.
