Shan Bieber had his worst start of the season in the Indian's playoff opener against the Yankees, giving up seven runs on nine hits over 4 2/3 innings pitched.
Bieber struck out seven but was ultimately hit too hard and too often to give Cleveland a chance to win this one. DJ LeMahieu began the game with a single to right and Aaron Judge followed with a two-run homer. Bieber later gave up another homer to Gleyber Torres en route to a 12-3 loss. Bieber is going to win the American League Cy Young this year but he couldn't come through when Cleveland needed him most. The Indians' backs are to the wall. Carlos Carrasco will start Game 2 opposite Masahiro Tanaka.
