Daniel Ponce de Leon takes the loss in Game 2 on Thursday

by Jon Mathisen | Fri, Oct 2nd 11:08am EDT

Daniel Ponce de Leon was handed the loss on Thursday in Game 2 of the Wild Card Round when he allowed three runs on two hits with a pair of strikeouts and a walk over an inning pitched in the Cardinals 11-9 loss.

Fantasy Impact:

Ponce de Leon entered a 6-6 ball game in the bottom of the seventh inning and instantly gave up a solo blast to Wil Myers. He subsequently walked Austin Nola but punched out the next two batters before Fernando Tatis Jr. took him to the opposite field to break the game open. The St. Louis pen struggled mightily in this one and the Slam Diego offense came out to play. Game 3 on Friday should be a barn burner.
