Clay Buchholz closes out strong spring

by Chris McCoy | Wed, Apr 1st 4:29pm EDT

The Red Sox Opening Day starter finished out his strong spring Wednesday in a slit-squad game against the Twins. Buchholz went 4 shutout innings allowing 6 hits and a walk while striking out 4. He lowered his spring ERA to 2.84 and regularly got his fastball into the mid 90's. (John Tomase - WEEI)

Fantasy Impact:

Buchholz is looking to rebound from a poor showing in 2014 when he posted a 5.34 ERA and 1.386 WHIP in 170.1 innings. It's certainly encouraging to hear that he is feeling better and that his velocity is back. A healthy Buchholz could be a very productive fantasy pitcher. However, even if Buchholz comes out the like 2013 version of himself (237 ERA+ in 108.1 IP) just remember that he has never thrown more than 190 innings in his career.
