Chris Bassitt gives up three runs over four innings in Game 1 defeat

by Jon Mathisen | Blue Jays Correspondent | Mon, Oct 5th 9:41pm EDT

Chris Bassitt took a no-decision on Monday when he gave up three runs on nine hits with four strikeouts in Oakland's Game 1 ALDS loss to the Houston Astros.

Fantasy Impact:

Bassitt cruised through the first three innings by allowing no runs on four hits with three strikeouts and no walks. Houston was all over him the fourth inning, though, as Alex Bregman led off the frame with a solo home run and Carlos Correa followed suit with a two-run blast. The right-hander finished the inning but gave up back-to-back singles to start the fifth inning and was replaced by Yusmeiro Petit. When it was all said and done, Bassitt had given up nine hits over four inning with three earned runs, which isn't bad considering what the Houston offense unleashed on the Oakland bullpen. The A's will look to bounce back with Sean Manaea on the bump in Game 2 on Tuesday.
