Gerrit Cole strikes out nine in Game 5 loss

by Brad Camara | Yankees Correspondent | Sat, Oct 10th 6:50am EDT

Gerrit Cole allowed one run and two walks while striking out nine over five 1/3 innings during Friday's 2-1 loss in Game 5 of the ALDS. He did not factor into the decision.

Fantasy Impact:

Cole pitched on short rest and was able to limit the Rays to one run over five innings. He yielded a solo shot to Austin Meadows before being removed from the game in the fifth. Cole was terrific this postseason, owning a (2-0) record along with a 2.95 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and 30 strikeouts over 18 1/3 innings. The 30-year-old ace figures to be one of the top pitchers off draft boards in 2021.
