Chris Sale, who had Tommy John surgery to repair his elbow last March, will not be ready for the start of the 2021 season according to Red Sox chief baseball officer Chaim Bloom. (Jason Mastrodonato on Twitter)
"When he comes back, that's upside. Because we know that's not going to be at the beginning of the season" Bloom added. This isn't surprising news as Sale underwent surgery back in March and TJ recovery can take quite a while. The left-hander will most likely make his season-debut sometime in May if all goes well. If Sale were to stick to that timetable, he could end up being a bargain in deeper league drafts this spring.
