Robinson Cano to be suspended for entire 2021 season

New York Mets second baseman Robinson Cano has tested positive for a performance-enhancing drug and will be suspended for the entire 2021 season, according to MLB insider Jeff Passan. According to Jon Heyman, Cano's positive test was for Stanozolol. He will forfeit a $24 million salary in 2020. (Jeff Passan on Twitter)

Cano had a bounceback year in the shortened 2020 season, slashing .316 / .352 / .544 with 10 home runs in 49 games after slashing just .256 / .307 / .428 with 13 home runs in 107 games in 2019. Cano is under contract for the 2022 and 2023 seasons at $24 million for each season. He turned 38 in October.
