Nelson Cruz unlikely to sign without clarity on universal DH

by Jon Mathisen | Twins Correspondent | Thu, Nov 19th 5:30pm EST

Nelson Cruz is unlikely to sign anywhere until there is clarity on whether or not the league will employ a universal DH in 2021, according to Jon Morosi of the MLB Network. (Jon Morosi on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact:

Evan at age 40, Cruz could be considered one of the top offensive free agents on the market after another stellar year in which he slashed .303/.397/.595 with 16 home runs and 33 RBI across 185 at-bats for the Twins. It's understandable that he would want to wait and see if the league moves forward with a designated hitter in the NL as that would broaden the amount of teams he could suit up for in 2021. As of now, no decision on a universal DH has been made for next season. Stay tuned.
