Jake Odorizzi drawing 'serious interest' from Red Sox

Free agent pitcher Jake Odorizzi is drawing "serious interest" from the Boston Red Sox, according to Mark Feinsand of Fansided. (Mark Feinsand on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact:

Odorizzi had a poor showing with the Twins in 2020, posting a 6.59 ERA and 1.39 WHIP across four starts. He dealt with several injuries, one of which was a blister on his throwing hand, which surely attributed to his poor performance. He was a revelation for Minnesota in 2019, however, when he posted a 3.51 ERA and 178 strikeouts over 159 innings. Perhaps recency bias will allow Boston to make a team-friendly "prove it" deal with the 30-year-old right hander. Feinsand also noted that Boston's chief baseball officer, Chaim Bloom, worked in Tampa Bay's front office when they acquired Odorizzi from the Royals back in 2012. So there is some familiarity there.
