Heyman emphasized that the Mets have not discussed the prospect publicly but that the "belief" is that Lugo will return to his relief role, which shouldn't come as a surprise. Lugo made seven starts for the shorthanded Mets during the 2020 season and registered 6.15 ERA and 1.52 WHIP. He performed much better out of the bullpen with a 2.61 ERA and 0.97 WHIP over nine apperances. He's been one New York's strongest reliever arms over the last few years so a return to the bullpen would be the wise move.
