Brad Hand and Mets reportedly ‘not close’ to a deal (update)

by Brad Camara | Fri, Jan 15th 9:17am EST

Ken Rosenthal of the Athletic originally reported that the Mets and free agent LHP Brad Hand were “close” to a two-year contract. This report has been updated and both sides are “not close” to a deal. (Ken Rosenthal on Twitter )

Fantasy Impact:

Jon Heyman of the MLB Network also confirmed that both sides are “not close” to a completed deal. The Mets have a decent chance to sign Hand, but the Astros, Dodgers and Blue Jays remain interested. Hand was terrific for the Indians in 2020, converting 16 saves while posting a 2.05 ERA, 0.77 WHIP and 29:4 K:BB ratio across 22 innings. The left-hander is expected to be in the mix for save opportunities for whichever team he lands with in 2021.
