The Baltimore Orioles have released catcher J.P. Arencibia, according to Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports. He spend last season with the Texas Rangers and his batting average did not improve. The Rangers assigned him to Triple-A Round Rock but he declined and became a free agent. In a similar scenario with the Orioles, Arencibia was expected to report to Triple-A Norfolk but instead, he decided to become a free agent. (MASN Sports)

Fantasy Impact:

Arencibia, 29, did not make the Opening Day roster but that was expected due to the strained right flexor mass injury he suffered during Spring training. He played with the Texas Rangers last season and had a batting average of .177/.239/.369 (ESPN).
